The historic Swauk Teanaway Grange hall, shown in this 1927 photo, was built in 1904 as the Ballard School. Children were educated in this one room school house until 1937. Then the building was deeded to the Grange. In it’s centennial year, the hall burned to the ground. It was rebuilt with the generous help of community groups and individuals. Over the past 70 years it’s been a center of activity for upper Kittitas County and a distinguished landmark. The hall, and the valley it sits in, is one of the most photographed locations in the area.
