The Kittitas County Genealogical Society will be marking the thirtieth year since its establishment in 1983. Organized by a group of local family history enthusiasts, the society met for many years in the Kittitas County Historical Museum and maintained a small library there. A few of the original members are still active today. In 1996, the society and its library moved to larger quarters in the Reed Building on Main Street where it is located today. Members will host an Open House on March 5 and 6 from 10 am to 4 pm and invite the public to visit their rooms, suites L and M at 413 N. Main Street. There will be an opportunity to explore the book collection and other resources in the society library, to view exhibits showcasing the thirty years of activity, and to meet and visit with members who staff the library. Light refreshments will be served.
In addition, the regular monthly meeting of the society on Monday, March 4 at 7 pm, will honor long-time members, and feature a presentation on the history of the society.
